How to Qualify

Any Texan not living in an institutional setting can be considered for the HCS program if they meet the following requirements:

Have an IQ of 69 or below or has an approved related condition with an IQ of 75 or below
Has mild to severe deficits in adaptive behavior
Is eligible for Medicaid benefits
Is not enrolled din any other Medicaid waiver program

Tropical Texas Behavioral Health is the Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority (LIDDA) that serves Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties. Branches are in Harlingen, Brownsville, Weslaco, & Edinburg

Ask to Enroll in Our Program

Tropical Texas Behavioral Health will place you on an interest list from Texas Health and Human Services Commission to approve funding for the services requested. Let them know that you wish to enroll with us.

Complete the Application Upon Approval

Once HHSC approves funding for services, your local LIDDA will will finish the application process and coordinate enrollment in our program and the ongoing services the recipient will need.
